Thanks to the generous contributions from corporate and foundation partners, Independent Colleges of Washington is able to provide more than $500,000 annually in need and merit-based scholarships, financial aid programming, and in-kind gifts to students attending our member colleges.

All competitive scholarships require online submission (one submission per scholarship application). The link is the same for all scholarships and is available via each scholarship button below . Please read each scholarship description and the checklist carefully before applying.



Goodchild Scholarship Application for Eastlake and Redmond Seniors

To apply for the Goodchild Scholarship, you will need to mail your application.

The Garrett J. Goodchild Achievement Award is open only to graduating seniors at Eastlake High School or Redmond High School who intend to enroll at one of the 10 independent colleges of Washington.

Garrett J. Goodchild passed away in 1996 prior to his senior year at Eastlake High School in Redmond. As a memorial, his family and friends established this award to assist students who wish to attend one of the 10 independent colleges in Washington.Applicants must be graduating high school seniors from Eastlake High School or Redmond High School, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and be able to demonstrate leadership and community involvement. Financial need is considered but not required. $2,500 award is renewable for up to 4 years.

Goodchild Application checklist: 1) Current unofficial H.S. transcripts; 2) One-page resume; 3) One-page signed letter of recommendation; 4) One-page essay on this topic: “Describe a situation in which you found yourself confronted with an ethical dilemma and how you resolved it. The situation can be personal or broader, such as consideration of a current event.”

Scholarships for Current College Students Requiring an Application (See Below)
Some of our scholarships are selected by committee and require an application and essay. Some are focused on majors, others on community service or place of residence. Notification of awards will be sent to students and college financial aid offices no later than July 1, 2020.


Scholarships Awarded by Colleges, No Application Required (See Below)
Many of our awards do not require an application, and are selected by the college financial aid offices from eligible students. No application required. Number in parenthesis indicates awards available.
